Red-breasted Goose

A national rarity with just one local record of an adult shot at Oldbury-on-Severn on 18th November, 1909. The original report in British Birds (vol 3 page 376) merely says it was shot on ‘the banks of the Severn’ but a later report in British Birds (vol 35 page 85) confirms the location. [Naylor]

More recent records have all been treated as escapes – in 1976, 1996, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2011/12, 2014/15, 2015 (3), 2016 and 2022.
